Our San Juan Islands

Conserve now. Enjoy forever.

The San Juan Preservation Trust works with our local communities and people like you to permanently conserve and care for special places throughout the San Juan Islands.

Together with our landowner partners, the Preservation Trust—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—has permanently protected more than 300 properties, 45 miles of shoreline, 27 miles of trails and 18,000 acres on 20 islands.

With all that is happening to wildlife near and far, it is encouraging to know that overall, the trumpeter and tundra swan populations continue to grow in the greater Puget Sound region.

We stay informed, thanks to volunteers who help us count swans throughout the San Juan archipelago during a one-day/year snapshot. Documenting their wintering populations provides meaningful data for WDFW to measure this conservation success story.

On Jan 17, 2020, please consider joining SJPT on this 20+ year old tradition! Please let us know if you can participate before the end of the year by e-mailing: volunteer@sjpt.org.

Keep looking up!
