M. Jean Moughtin
1931 – 2018
Jean Moughtin was a devoted lifelong Seattleite, attending Queen Anne High School and then the University of Washington, where she studied business. Korry Manufacturing was the beneficiary of Jean’s talents during her career. She was an active, spunky woman, who spent most of her free time enjoying the benefits of life in the Pacific Northwest—camping, hiking, and boating around our beautiful state.
Jean’s love for the San Juan Islands occupied many of her thoughts. She had a passion for the islands and boated around them year after year, often visiting friends and relatives. “My Aunt Jean visited us on San Juan Island frequently,” says Judy Thordarson. “She would tell me, ‘You are my favorite niece,’ although she only had one. She was enthusiastic about life.”
Her friend Gina Roberts recalls that “Jean worked hard for a long time and left an amazing legacy, not only to the Preservation Trust, but to many other charities. She was a woman ahead of her time!”
With her generous bequest to the Preservation Trust, Jean hoped to ensure we all have a beautiful place to hike, float, sit, and sip our favorite drinks for years to come.
