The Board and Staff of the Preservation Trust wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving — as well as a meaningful time for reflection and celebration on Native American Heritage Day.

The Turtleback Mountain Preserve has been undergoing restoration work all over the mountain recently, but the newly re-routed trail on the south side of the preserve is the cherry on top.

The San Juan County Conservation Land Bank has been hard at work with Washington Trails Association, Land Bank and Preservation Trust staff and volunteers to decommission and restore the steepest section of the old fire-road trail, while also rerouting the Morning Ridge Trail as it wends its way up to a renovated lookout area.

The San Juan Preservation Trust occasionally spotlights members who have distinguished themselves by embodying the organization’s mission and values through their actions. We’re back with another Volunteer Spotlight edition to profile one of our newest volunteers, Peter Zangrillo, who has hit the ground running since he started working with us this past spring.
