Trail Updates on the South Side of Turtleback

The Turtleback Mountain Preserve has been undergoing restoration work all over the mountain recently, but the newly re-routed trail on the south side of the preserve is the cherry on top.

The San Juan County Conservation Land Bank has been hard at work with Washington Trails Association, Land Bank and Preservation Trust staff and volunteers to decommission and restore the steepest section of the old fire-road trail, while also rerouting the Morning Ridge Trail as it wends its way up to a renovated lookout area.

Volunteer Spotlight: Peter Zangrillo

The San Juan Preservation Trust occasionally spotlights members who have distinguished themselves by embodying the organization’s mission and values through their actions. We’re back with another Volunteer Spotlight edition to profile one of our newest volunteers, Peter Zangrillo, who has hit the ground running since he started working with us this past spring.

Membership Matters

As a member of the San Juan Preservation Trust, you fuel our mission—your support means more to the San Juan Islands than you can imagine.

As pressures and threats to our waters and landscapes mount, the islands need more from us, and quickly. Your membership allows us to defend and nurture the lands you love. It helps to create and enhance habitats for threatened species like Coho salmon and the Island Marble butterfly, and it means that precious patches of the islands get to stay beautiful and resilient for generations to come.

Your membership in the Preservation Trust makes a difference to the places, people, and wildlife that call these islands home, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership!
