Northeast Shore Preserve

Orcas Island

A long stretch of undisturbed shoreline on the northeast side of Orcas Island was donated in 1987 to the Preservation Trust by a partnership led by the Robert F. Utter family.

Now known as the Northeast Shore Preserve, the property includes steep and rugged shoreline that extends nearly three-quarters of a mile east of Moran State Park and adjoins land on Point Lawrence that is now also owned by Washington State Parks.

Besides providing a resting area for marine birds and mammals, passing boaters delight in the scenic views afforded by the forested, rugged slope.

There is no place to park at this preserve; access is limited to neighbors who live within walking distance.
