North Shore Preserve

Orcas Island

A long stretch of undisturbed shoreline on the northeast side of Orcas Island was donated in 1987 to the Preservation Trust by a partnership led by the Robert F. Utter family.

Now known as the North Shore Preserve, the property includes steep and rugged shoreline that extends nearly ¾ of a mile northeast of Moran State Park and adjoins land owned by the Bureau of Land Management.

Besides providing a resting area for marine birds and mammals, passing boaters delight in the scenic views afforded by the forested, rugged slope.
