Join us out on the land!
The San Juan Preservation Trust works with our local communities and people like you to permanently conserve and care for special places throughout the San Juan Islands.
Vendovi Island sure is a gem, and spring is a prime time to visit this vibrant isle.
The wildflowers were blooming all over the place and our group of wildflower wanderers at our guided walk enjoyed a beautifully sunny afternoon before our boat made it back to the mainland just as a rainstorm was rolling in.
It was nice to think that the weather held out just long enough for us to comfortably enjoy the wildflowers' splendor before they received a nourishing shower later that evening to further fuel their springtime processes. One of many thought-provoking observations from the outing.
All in all another lovely visit to Vendovi!
The Vendovi Island Preserve is open to the public each year from April 1st to September 30th, 10am to 6pm, Thursday through Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday).

Sometimes our office is out on the land and sometimes our office is...the office!
But our volunteer events ALWAYS have snacks and our incredible staff ready to share our knowledge and excitement for conservation in the islands.
Aside from our typical volunteer outings at various protected places, we also have opportunities for folks to get involved with our work by helping out with other tasks, such as event planning (in the summer especially), assembling welcome packets for new landowners, completing gratitude correspondence for our donors and supporters (particularly in the fall/winter), and data entry and document sorting, among other office-based activities.
If you are interested in joining our efforts with any of the above opportunities, we would be thrilled to have you along!
These are each great ways to get involved in our mission, meet our staff, and see all the other ways aside from putting our hands in the dirt that we do the important work we do.
Any help we can get is incredibly valuable and much appreciated, and many of the folks that have helped us out with these tasks in the past have gone on to become lifelong friends of the organization.

Last week was our traditional springtime volunteer outing at the Henry Island Preserve, which we try to coincide with Earth Day as closely as possible.
It's always a great time to be out there, with wildflowers beginning to show off their prime bloom, trailside vegetation leafing out, and the sun shining over it all with a side of a gentle breeze.
And what a day it was! SJPT staff and a wonderful group of volunteers tidied up the trails, scoured the beaches for washed up litter, and checked on the overall state of the preserve. It was a tremendous way to spend another day on Earth!
Thank you to all that participated and rest assured that there will be more opportunities coming up to join us out at lovely places like this.
