SJPT Land Steward Rob Roy McGregor took these photos on a recent night at Red Mill Farm Preserve on San Juan Island. The eerie lighting provides a nice Halloween (or spooky Christmas) effect, no?
But oh, those stars! With well over 1,000 acres of permanently protected land in San Juan Valley (including Red Mill Farm Preserve, Sundstrom Farm Preserve, Zylstra Lake Preserve, and assorted other properties protected both by SJPT and the County Land Bank), sources of future light pollution in the valley are limited. Farmland and open space aren’t the only thing being preserved. So are precious views of the night sky like this one!
