We held our 2020 Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 25. It was the 41st official annual meeting of our membership, but the first one to be held virtually, live and online. By all reports, our webinar debut went pretty well!
Highlights included the usual recap of finances and conservation projects from the previous year (with a “sneak peak” of a truly exciting new project now in the works), plus:
- A tribute to longstanding board member Alice Hurd
- Videos introducing our Volunteers of the Year and Climate Leadership Scholarship winners
- To top it all off, a timely talk on marine pandemics by Dr. Drew Harvell, author of the award-winning books Ocean Outbreak: Confronting the Rising Tide Of Marine Disease and A Sea of Glass: Searching for the Blaschkas’ Fragile Legacy in an Ocean at Risk.
We hope next year’s 42nd Annual Meeting can, once again, be held in person, but are grateful that so many joined us for this year’s virtual version, which broke all previous attendance records.
