Summer intern with former SJPT board member (and internship program namesake) Fred Ellis

The San Juan Preservation Trust (SJPT) is seeking applicants for it 2024 Fred E. Ellis Summer Internship. This internship program is designed to expose the Intern (age 18+) to a range of activities performed by a conservation land trust, while providing the Preservation Trust with needed assistance in reaching its goals.

This year, most of the Intern’s time will be spent assisting our Stewardship group as they perform restoration, monitoring, and maintenance work on SJPT-protected lands throughout the San Juan archipelago. The remainder of the Intern’s time will be spent working on a variety of projects assigned by our CORE (Communications, Outreach, and Education), Conservation, Philanthropy, and Operations groups.

This is a six-week, in-person internship program requiring approximately 32 hours per week. Start and end dates are negotiable. Compensation is $3,000 in addition to six weeks of housing provided on San Juan Island. Applications are due on or before March 8, 2024.
