If you’d like to visit the Ellis Family Preserve (on Shaw Island), you have two remaining opportunities this summer.
We’ll be holding Open Preserve Days, when the gates and doors will be open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on these dates:
- August 17
- September 21
On Open Preserve Days, Preservation Trust staff and volunteer docents will be available to answer questions and offer guidance as you wander this amazing conservation legacy of Fred and Marilyn Ellis and their family.
Also, look for the “Fred’s Shed” sale of miscellaneous items from the farm and homestead. All proceeds will benefit the Ellis Family Preserve stewardship fund.
Directions to the Ellis Family Preserve: From the Shaw Ferry Landing, follow Blind Bay Rd. as it curves to the right around Blind Bay. Keep going straight until you come to the intersection of Blind Bay Rd. and Hoffman Cove Rd. (2.3 miles from the ferry landing). Turn left and proceed approximately 0.8 miles on Hoffman Cove Rd. Look for the preserve gate and driveway on the right.
