Meghan Howard

Stewardship Manager

Meghan Howard joined the Preservation Trust as a Land Steward in June 2021 and was promoted to the role of Stewardship Manager in 2024. She grew up catching frogs and looking for cool bugs along the Roanoke River in North Carolina’s coastal plains, and she’s been a lifelong student seeking to better understand ecological communities and what it means to be a good citizen of them. Prior to joining SJPT, she has held positions with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and the Smithsonian Neighborhood Nestwatch Program, conducted ecological research in Costa Rican cloud forests, and stewarded Sucia Island and seven other local marine parks with Washington State Parks. She holds a MSc in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Stanford University.

Meghan’s stewardship responsibilities include SJPT-protected properties on Blakely and Orcas Islands.
