Maddie Ovenell
Executive Assistant
Maddie joined the San Juan Preservation Trust in July 2026 as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. In this role, she supports executive operations, board and committee coordination, and organizational projects and events that help advance the Preservation Trust's mission.
Maddie's passion for connecting people with the outdoors began through environmental and outdoor education. She earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies & Communication from Denison University before completing a master's degree in Recreation Administration from Aurora University, building a foundation that combined environmental stewardship, communication and recreation.
Prior to joining the Preservation Trust, Maddie's career focused on bringing people together through parks, recreation, community events, and public service. Her experience includes managing university and community events, directing the Lake Oswego Farmers' Market, and serving as Director of Island Rec, the San Juan Island Park and Recreation District, for eight years, before providing consulting support to local organizations.
Having spent her career serving communities through parks, recreation, and public service, Maddie is excited to support the Preservation Trust's work protecting the lands and shorelines that will benefit future generations. Outside of work, Maddie enjoys cheering on her two daughters at many sporting events, gardening, baking, exploring local beaches and trails, and spending time with her family.
