Earlier this year, the Preservation Trust acquired a 42-acre property, now known as the Keel Preserve, on the east side of Orcas Island. This month, a hardy group of volunteers began building a trail spur that will connect Moran State Park’s trail system to a lovely seasonal waterfall on the preserve. Our hope is to complete the trail in time for a spring opening, when the waterfall should be at its peak flow.

Here’s a gallery of photos taken during our trail-building work party, offering a sneak peek of the new trail. (Photos by SJPT staff, waterfall photo by Jeff Brennan)
