Robbi Conservation Easement
Orcas Island
Year Protected: 1990
Land Protected: 31 acres
Public Benefits: Agricultural land, forest
This conservation easement, donated to the Preservation Trust by Marc and Tina Robbi in 1990, has made a significant contribution towards the preservation of the rural character of the Olga-Doe Bay area on Orcas Island.
Over 30 acres of farmland and meadows, a maturing second-growth forest and a seasonal streambed were protected, and further development of the property is limited to the interior (and least ecologically sensitive) portions of the property. Home to numerous bird species, including nesting raptors, the land will continue to be used as a working farm, and selective timber harvesting will be permitted to maintain forest health and enhance wildlife habitat.
In 2000, neighbor Larry Parker protected his adjacent 80 acre farm, greatly enhancing the protection created by the Robbi easement.
