Pete Kilpatrick has lived on San Juan Island for nearly 50 years. For 40 of those years, he owned and operated Ravenhill Construction, striving to balance island preservation with development that supports community needs. Throughout his career, Pete has prioritized volunteerism, viewing it as essential to maintaining the quality of life in our community.
A member of our Board of Directors since 2018, Pete has also shared his time and expertise with the Preservation Trust by helping improve buildings on our properties. In late spring 2023, after more than a decade of discussions about securing a permanent home for our organization, the San Juan Preservation Trust purchased a building in downtown Friday Harbor. Pete generously contributed to the design phase and took an active role in renovating our new space.
For Pete, volunteering with the Preservation Trust is about more than giving back—it’s about leaving a legacy. As an active member of our organization, he is dedicated to protecting landscapes that help ensure a healthy, vibrant future for both the community and the environment. His steady commitment and generous spirit have made a lasting impact on our work—and on the broader community we serve.
We are deeply grateful for Pete Kilpatrick’s many contributions, and we are thrilled to name him the San Juan Preservation Trust’s 2025 Volunteer of the Year!
