2025 Climate Leadership Award Winners

We are thrilled to announce the recipients of our 2025 Climate Leadership Award: Nonie Prout and Matilda Twigg, both incredible young leaders from Lopez Island! These inspiring individuals will each receive $4,000 to further their studies and commitment to our planet.⁠

Nonie Prout

Nonie is off to the University of Puget Sound to explore environmental studies and psychology, aiming to understand how we connect with nature and build stronger communities for a healthier Earth.⁠

Matilda Twigg

Matilda, who you might know from Kwiaht or the County’s Climate and Sustainability Advisory Committee, is heading to Yale to delve into natural and political science, with a passion for protecting public and ecological health.⁠
