Kelvin Baker

Director of Communications & Outreach

Kelvin joined the San Juan Preservation Trust in 2024 as Director of Communications & Outreach. In this role, he shares the Preservation Trust’s mission through print and digital media, public events, and community programs. He also leads the team responsible for education, volunteer engagement, and outreach, while stewarding the organization’s brand and voice.

Before coming to the Preservation Trust, Kelvin managed global email marketing and video production for an automotive company and, before that, was the Marketing & Communications Manager for the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

In his free time, he runs a small creative business, where he has partnered with nonprofits including the San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, University of Michigan Medical School, Rocky Ridge Music Center, and several others. He’s also passionate about community-focused sustainability, leading the launch of a public EV carshare program in 2019 that expanded affordable access to zero-emission transit in Ohio.

A native of Michigan, Kelvin grew up exploring the Great Lakes region where he gained a deep appreciation for nature. His role with the Preservation Trust is an exciting way for him to support the landscapes he loves.

Kelvin is a graduate of Oberlin College & Conservatory.
