David’s love of boating first brought him to the San Juan Islands in the early 1970s. He has cruised extensively through the San Juan and Gulf Islands and north into British Columbia and SE Alaska. He and his wife, Sonia, moved to Orcas in 2008. David was president of a Seattle based commercial real estate brokerage and a managing partner of a development company specializing in healthcare facilities. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Washington in 1977 with an emphasis in real estate and finance. He was a board member of the Seattle Repertory Theater and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America–Seattle Chapter.
David now serves on the board of the San Juan Preservation Trust and is a steward for the Trust’s Stuart Island properties. He is a member of the Orcas Island Community Foundation Investment Committee and is president of the Orcas Tennis Club. David’s love of wild, pristine places serves as inspiration for conserving lands and shorelines in the San Juan Islands. His passion is to help preserve the islands’ character and beauty with conservation and preservation of lands and watersheds. He is a wilderness and sports enthusiast and can often be found sailing the evening waters around Deer Harbor.
