Sandra Wilson Conservation Easement

San Juan Island

Year Protected: 1994

Land Protected: 23 acres

Public Benefits: Forestland, steambed

The rural character of San Juan Island’s Cattle Point Road makes it a favorite driving/bicycling/walking route for many residents and visitors.  In 1994, Sandra Wilson helped ensure that a portion of the views from this road will retain that character.  In preparation for the sale of the 23-acre property, Sandra wanted to make sure that future owners wouldn’t be able to clear the forest or disturb the seasonal streambed that winds its way through her land.

By placing a conservation easement on the property, Sandra was able to guarantee that her vision for this land would remain intact. Only one residence will be permitted on the land, ensuring that the scenic views and wildlife habitat that her property offers will grace this portion of the Cattle Point Road corridor in perpetuity.
