Johnson Conservation Easement

Lopez Island

Year Protected: 1989

Land Protected: 2 acres

Shoreline Protected: 675 feet

Public Benefits: Shoreline

Two acres and 675 feet of shoreline on the stunning Iceberg Peninsula at Lopez Island’s south end were protected in 1989 by the Curtis Johnson family through a donation of a conservation easement.

This parcel, adjacent to the federal Bureau of Land Management’s holdings, faces directly onto Outer Bay and preserves the southern shoreline and views from Agate Beach County Park.

There are no structures on the property, and the easement requires that it remain in its natural and undisturbed state ( in keeping with the surrounding protected lands).
