Beaverton Marsh West Preserve

San Juan Island

Year Protected: 2011

Land Protected: 40 acres

Public Benefits: Wetlands, wildlife habitat

At the western reaches of the largest wetland system in San Juan County lies a 40-acre parcel that the San Juan Preservation Trust acquired in 2011. Known as the “Beaverton Marsh,” this productive marshland sits in the bucolic Beaverton Valley area of San Juan Island. The purchase was made in partnership with the San Juan County Land Bank, which holds a conservation easement on the property and on adjoining parcels.
