Parks Bay intertidal zone at Ellis Preserve | Staff Archive

Marine shoreline is the defining feature of the San Juan Islands. On this field trip we will join Fisheries Oceanographer, Dr. Tina Echeverria, to explore an area of the intertidal zone to look at some of the creatures and plants that live in the dynamic conditions of fluctuating tides. Dr. Tina Echeverria worked as a Fisheries Oceanographer in the Northeastern Pacific Ocean and the Salish Sea for 40 years, most recently surveying the nearshore fishes in San Juan County. She is now retired.
