Celebrate Earth Day’s 50th anniversary with SJPT by cleaning up Henry Island Preserve during Great Islands Clean-Up Day, April 18th. Lend a hand in tidying up beaches on the isthmus and brushing trails on this extraordinarily beautiful preserve.
Cleaning trash and debris from the protected nearshore habitat for salmonoids and spawning beaches for forage fish is a step in the right direction to better the health of our pacific salmon and their fragile ecosystem.
In honoring Earth Day’s 2020 theme of Climate Action, we are challenging our volunteers to use human power (kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, etc.) to venture to Henry Island. For those who need a lift, we are providing boat transportation that will depart from Roche Harbor.
Stewardship Manager, Kathleen Foley Lewis will lead this work party and further details about the event and perks of participating will be e-mailed to registered participants.
Work parties typically last 3-4 hours and are timed to meet ferry schedules. Snacks are always provided as well as some good SJPT cheer. Details about when and where to meet, etc., will be emailed to registered participants prior to the event.
Participation is free, but please click here to register so we know how many people to expect.
