Barbara grew up in small towns in Idaho and eastern Washington, but migrated to the west coast and has lived in the Puget Sound area all her adult life. For many years, she and her husband, Pete, delighted in sailing the San Juan Islands from their home base in Seattle.
When they decided to relocate in 2019, they found it only natural to choose the islands for their new “forever home.” Designing and building their home on San Juan Island, near Cattle Point Lighthouse, came naturally to them, as the long-time principals of Seattle Design Builders, where Pete is an architect and general contractor and Barbara is owner and operations manager.
Barbara is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business and also holds a certificate in Human Resources Management from UW. Previously, she studied Communications and Public Relations at the University of Idaho. Her career includes tenures at nonprofits, public and private corporations, and the architecture/ engineering/ construction industry throughout the Seattle area.
“I feel fortunate to be working with such a dedicated and passionate group of colleagues to preserve, protect, and care for these unique islands,” Barbara says.
