FARMS AND FORKS: A BIKE & GASTRONOMIC TOUR OF AGRICULTURAL CONSERVATION LANDS IN SAN JUAN VALLEY
October 6, 2013
11:30 am - 3:00 pm
Tune up that bike and join the San Juan Preservation Trust and the San Juan County Land Bank for a cycling tour of over 1,100 acres of protected agricultural lands in the heart of San Juan Valley. We’ll have an easy cycle through the valley and visit several farms, where you will learn their history and recent efforts to conserve them for both current and future agricultural purposes. We’ll sample local products on stops along the way, before ending the tour at the San Juan Preservation Trust’s Red Mill Farm, in the heart of the valley.
You are welcome to skip the cycling and join the group at the farm at 1 pm for food and music. At least five local farms will be represented as well as Westcott Bay Distillery & San Juan Vineyards, and music will be provided by “Home Grown Potatoes.” How fun is that?!!!
Trip Details: Sunday, October 6.
Please meet at the Skagit Valley College lower parking area at 11 a.m. We will depart from there by bicycle. Guests who do not wish to participate in the bicycle tour are welcome to join the group at Red Mill Farm at 1 p.m. to wind down with food and music. Riders will be escorted back to Skagit Valley College by 3 p.m.
Participant limit on bike tour: 20 people. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cycling tour and lunch: $20/per person
Lunch at Red Mill Farm only: $15/per person.
