Join us for the "Picnic in the Park", a rally for the "Save Guemes Mountain" Campaign, coming up this Saturday, August 15th at Schoolhouse Park on Guemes Island. This free event is open to the public and members of both the San Juan Preservation Trust and the Skagit Land Trust, who are co-leading the campaign. Food, music, beer and wine garden and fun for the whole family!
Schedule of Events:
· 10:30am & 1:30pm: Hike of Guemes Mountain (leaves from park).
· Noon - 1:30: A lunch of local foods and refreshing beverages will be provided at no charge; vegetarian option available.
· Noon - late afternoon: Enjoy live local music & no-host beer and wine garden. Children & adult activities will start at 10am in the park. We encourage people to walk aboard the ferry since parking is limited at the event site. Shuttle service will be provided to and from Schoolhouse Park and to Guemes Mountain for the hikes. Shuttle service will be provided from the ferry to the park and picnic site for all arriving ferries from the 10am to the 3:15pm sailings. Return shuttle service will also be provided. Parking at the Anacortes terminal is available in the terminal area, a parking lot at 6th and K street, the Kiwanis Park parking area just west of 6th and I streets or on the surrounding side streets. Tickets for the ferry are purchased from the purser who usually starts selling tickets to passengers 5-10 minutes before the sailing time. The purser then walks up the line of vehicles to sell tickets. A passenger ticket may be bought from the purser while he/she is selling to the vehicles. Fares are (cash preferred): Sr. & disabled passenger tickets --$1.50, adult passenger --$3.00, Car & Driver (Sr. & Disabled) --$7.50, Car & Driver -- $9.00.
